Cosmetic treatment could be the perfect treatment this Christmas

09 Dec

Buying the perfect gift for the friend or relative who has everything can be very difficult and very time consuming. Even with internet shopping making gift-buying easier, trawling through weird and wonderful websites is still a drain on your time – and then you need to worry about delivery times! Buying vouchers may seem like an easy option, but it can be quite an impersonal gift. Unless of course, you can find a voucher for something very personal that is tailored just for them- such as a voucher for a cosmetic treatment.

Unless you’re made of money you’re unlikely to be able to afford to give your friends face-lifts or boob jobs for Christmas, no matter how much they would love them, but there are plenty of procedures and treatments that are within the reach of most wallets. However, you have to be careful that the person getting the gift is not going to be horribly offended by a voucher for a cosmetic treatment. Buying your husband a voucher for a stop snoring treatment may seem like a subtle way of telling him that his night-time volume is keeping you awake, but it’s probably a better idea to be honest with him and give him the chance to do something about it himself!

Girls on the other hand will no doubt love a Botox voucher or an appointment for a chemical peel at Private Clinic. Beauty therapy clinics often sell vouchers that can be used on their premises for any treatment, so even if your female friend or relative isn’t interested in taking years off their appearance they can buy themselves a relaxing massage or a manicure.

You could even treat yourself to a cosmetic treatment or two this festive season, which isn’t as indulgent and selfish as it sounds. There are lots of couples out there who choose their own gifts, after setting a price limit. Once you’ve agreed the cost with your significant other, you can head to the clinic while he spends his budget on all the computer games and gadgets he wants. Who knows, after the success of your procedure you might persuade him to try that stop snoring treatment after all!

Make sure you Smile when you say ‘I do’

17 Aug

Many couples who are getting married decide to have a smile makeover in order to ensure that they can confidently smile in photos and look the best they can for their wedding day.  There are various teeth whitening treatments available, as well as dental implants Glasgow, which aid in creating a whiter appearance or alternatively there are full Smile makeovers that cater to transform and improve the aesthetics of your smile.

Many dentists Glasgow recommend booking your smile makeover treatment well in advance of your wedding date due to the treatment time and after care consultations that may be needed before the big day.  Some dental practices offer free consultations with a specialised cosmetic dentist to discuss your dental requirements and the amount of work that is required to be done on your teeth.

There are various other treatments that can be done quickly and effectively before your wedding such as the Six month smiles which caters to straighten your teeth in as little as 6 months. If 6 months is all the time you have left till your wedding day then the 6 month smile treatment may be just what you need to get your smile ‘straightened out’ .

UK Dental Economy: Is it viable to buy a dental practice now?

18 Jun

In 2007, the sub-prime mortgages fiasco involving banks world-wide also impacted dentists, such as dentists in Nottingham, with personal and business mortgages. Those purchasing existing practices are affected by banks seeking greater assurances in unsecured lending for goodwill. Others establishing new private practices are also faced with banks seeking more assurance that the practice will succeed. Financial crisis’s also impacting the UK Dental Economy may present opportunities for new business with dental businesses for sale.

Dentists entering business deals are advised to research and understand the market issues and trends that cause responses to demand. As demand for dental practices has increased since 2006, the value of dental practices has also risen. Value of dental practices is determined too by the quality of dental skill, the patient base and potential business, and varied treatments available that may include Endodontic cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html surgery to cosmetic dental and facial reconstructions through practitioner skill and state-of-the-art technology, such as CEREC.

Understanding the responsibilities and obligations when buying a practice is vital, and prospective dental practice buyers are becoming much more aware of this. Banks will look at past performance, business plans and forecasts as part of cautious lending policies. Consulting an expert before buying and getting quotes related to the practice’s operation is as important to assessing if the historical patients on the dental practice’s database really exist for viable business.

The lasers of tomorrow

02 Jun

Are the lasers of science fiction really what we want?  People seem to only be interested in things that involve causing death or destruction, they focus on these aspects and ignore other possibilities as not so interesting because nothing explodes.

Lasers are a good example of this because they are used in so much of our everyday lives and yet the bit that everyone finds interesting is their potential as weapons.  Lasers can be used for tattoo removal, letting someone rid their body of something they no longer want on it.  They are also used in entertainment, allowing movies and computer games to brighten up our day.

Lasers can be used in surgery, to help someone beat a deadly illness, or to help a couple with infertility problems to have a child.  They even get used to help people who need laser hair removal to let them feel better or laser eye surgery to let them see better.

More intriguing to people though, seems to be the idea of blowing things up, fighting monsters and aliens with massively powered beams of destruction.  Is this really what we want to teach our children?

I would rather they learned how great a technological advance something like the laser is.  How medical science has helped to improve and extend people’s lives using lasers.  How laser fingerprint detection lets us catch criminals and reduce crime and all the other ways in which technology can help our lives rather than just making things go ‘boom’.

What’s in your toothpaste?

16 Apr

Many of us walk the supermarket isles in search of either our favourite brand of toothpaste, the most recommended brand, or the cheapest toothpaste on offer. But how conscious are we of what this accessory to cleaning teeth called “tooth paste” actually is?

Toothpaste is called dentrifice in French and contains surfactant, humectant, abrasive, binder, and in most makes fluoride to remove plaque, freshen the mouth, and whiten the teeth. Historically, tooth powder was used by the Romans and preceded tooth paste but may still be used in the form of baking soda as an alternative. Primitive tooth powder consisted of ground horns, hoofs, bones, and shells that were burned and mixed with a palatable substance, such as honey.

Essex dentists have contributed to the development of toothpaste that contain ingredients such as fluoride and xylitol to actively combat disease to the teeth and gums. It’s common for toothpastes to have minuscule amounts of chemicals that may be poisonous when swallowed, so toothpaste should be used for cleaning and rinsing, then be spat out.

In addition, dentists often teach the importance of knowing how to brush your teeth because it’s more the action of brushing that cleans than the toothpaste itself. Visit your Essex dentist to learn what toothpaste is right for you and how to brush properly to prevent plaque, tartar, gum disease, tooth decay, and tooth extraction and other nasty dental jobs.

What makes a Teeth Treatment Tourist?

04 Apr

Dental tourism is all about the individual seeking out the best treatment at the best by travelling out of the country for treatment. Dental patients are becoming more and more aware of the fact that dental treatments will cost less in developing countries than wealthy countries. Countries such as Hungary are now gaining a reputation for low prices amongst dental tourists. He Austrians are now often travelling to Hungary for their dental treatments, the United States citizens are now going to Mexico whilst Republic of Ireland citizens are going either to Northern Ireland, Hungary, Turkey or Poland.

Dentists in Halifax think the price of dentistry is not the only reason why people are going abroad for treatment, in some areas it can be difficult to get access to dental care, in this case individuals are forced to become dental tourists if they are to get the treatment they need.

Dental Tourist Tip

Today travel expenses can be found covered with little expense thanks to online cheap flights. This can be a huge incentive to get people having a treatment abroad. I n the U.K there is variation in price which can also be rather frustrating. Whilst there are financial benefits of dental tourism, patients need to be cautious about the quality of treatment in dental practices abroad.

Tips To Help Recovery From Plastic Surgery After Gastric Band Surgery

01 Apr

Plastic surgery is another important step that follows weight loss surgery. After careful analysis by the weight loss surgeon, who gives his word that maximum weight loss has been achieved, the plastic surgeon then schedules the patient for surgery to remove excess skin from different parts of the body.

Once plastic surgery is performed, there are certain steps or measures that should be undertaken to help speedy recovery. After plastic surgery, an individual suffers from a lot of inflammation and pain. It is advisable that during this phase, cold compresses are used on areas that are sore. Cold compresses reduce inflammation as well as pain.

Wounds that are healing very slowly, they might bleed from time to time. It is important that there is a spray bottle or an irrigation bottle at hand to clear out the seeping fluid or blood and keep the area clean. Sterile gauze can also be used for the same purpose.

Pain and soreness affects sleep. It is important to note here that using sleep aids such as sleeping pills really help to speed up the recovery. If an individual is suffering from sleep disorder, then they should consult their family physician and get sleeping aids to help them sleep and recover at a much faster pace.

The physicians prescribe pain killers, which helps to ease off the pain. A side effect associated with pain killers is constipation, which causes the problem of hard stools. It is advisable that some form of laxatives are also taken along with pain medications.

After gastric band surgery, doctors mostly advise their patients to have have juices as well as semisolid diet. Patients going through plastic surgery must get the detailed information from their surgeon as to what better lifestyles can be adopted to maximize recovery.

Is Injecting Fat a Safe Alternative to Traditional Breast Implant Procedures?

30 Mar

Research is showing that liposuctioning a woman’s own fat and injecting it into her breasts is a safe and effective alternative to traditional breast implants. There have been recent concerns that such procedures may result in the injected fat calcifying and making mammograms more difficult to read, or that the injected fat might be reabsorbed into the woman’s body. However, the study presented showed that these concerns were not substantiated by the research. In this study, the liposuctioned fat did not calcify or cause problems with reading the subject’s mammograms. The fat was not usually reabsorbed; it survived in over 85% of cases. Patients were pleased with their results, and the procedure was able to be completed an only an hour and a half. However, the breast volume was not static – it increased or decreased as a woman’s general weight increased or decreased. There was also a poor level of compliance with patients instructed to use a tissue-expanding device prior to their procedures.

Women who seek breast lifts often need some form of additional augmentation, so breast implants are often inserted at the time of the breast lift procedure. However, research has shown that injecting a woman’s own fat into her breasts offers a viable alternative for creating additional fullness. The complication rates were lower in women who received fat injections versus breast implants, and none of the patients involved in the study had any abnormalities in their mammograms after the fat-injecting procedure.
